As a tutor, I consider myself a specialist in the area of aiding students to prepare for the SAT. Though it can be a daunting time for any student, my methods have shown themselves to be highly effective, and I strive to approach the preparation process from a pragmatic perspective. Establishing what the student's strengths and weaknesses are is vital in my tutoring. A big believer in the use of index cards, I have found it very useful to begin by gathering all incorrectly answered questions from previous tests and exams to make sure they are added to the mix of data, ensuring all necessary information is accumulated before we begin our review.In my background, I have more than five years' worth of experience to draw upon, as well as more than fifteen years of teaching experience. I attended Rutgers University in New Jersey. In addition to my extensive work assisting students to succeed on the SAT, I have also helped to prepare students for the ACT. Subjects I've also tutored in the past include elementary and middle school math, essay writing & editing, and general grammar and literature. When I'm not working to help students excel, a big part of my own time is spent designing musical instruments and playing jazz music.
