I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in English and secondary education from Seton Hall University with a minor in music and an additional certification in information technology. While working on my own academic goals, I have been tutoring students in a variety of courses through my school's writing center. I've also worked as a substitute teacher in grades K-12. My personal academic passion is centered on language arts, and this is the field that I most frequently tutor. Some of the specific courses I tutor include reading, English grammar and syntax, essay writing, and English. I also tutor elementary math. As my teaching and tutoring style has evolved, I have become more certain that it is more important to get to know the individual student before trying to implement a program of study. This is simply because no two students have identical learning needs, strengths, or challenges. It has also been beneficial for my students to take the time to identify their personal learning goals which we then outline and make an action plan to achieve those goals. This helps students become invested in the outcome and become more interested in strengthening their academic foundation as a whole in addition to improving their performance in a given subject area.
